Helping Your Gender-Expansive Child with Teasing

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Teasing has become part of the social culture at schools and often goes on away from adult supervision. A gender-expansive or transgender child is even more susceptible to teasing given that they tend to behave or dress in a way that can be unexpected by other children or deemed by other children to be “different.” In this workshop, parents learn how to avoid "warning" their child about teasing that may result from being gender-expansive and instead focus on building coping skills, ego strength, and tools for responding to teasing that may occur. Parents will also receive support about how to engage in self-care when their child is experiencing teasing.
