Identity Safe Parenting: New Perspectives on Supporting Our Gender-Expansive Youth

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

All parents have hopes and dreams for their children. For many, the first is for them to feel safe and welcome and to become happy and productive people in the world. How can we, as parents and caregivers responsible for their safety and well being, better support our gender-expansive children to live their dreams? Join us for a lively exploration of gender and identity from the point of view of a parent of LGBTQ children and from being an LGBTQ child of a non-LGBTQ parent. Find out how to foster identity safety, the feeling of being valued and appreciated for who you are, no matter your background, identity, or experience. Share ways to support your children and to advocate for their safety at school and in their community. Learn ways to take action to help make your child’s environments become more welcoming and inclusive for all children.
