What does it mean for a teenager to undergo gender transition in adolescence? During this precarious developmental stage in a young person’s life, there are a number of processes occurring that must be given additional consideration in youth who are going to undergo gender transition. This workshop will include a review of adolescent developmental tasks, as well as the additional challenges faced by transgender youth presented by Susan Landon, of the Los Angeles Gender Center. Dr. Johanna Olson, the Medical Director of the Center for Transyouth Health and Development, will review adolescent brain development, and discuss how this development interacts with gender transition.
