Everyday teens are targeted on the basis of their race, religion, social class, sexual orientation, or other aspect of their identity. In the "Becoming an Ally" workshop, middle and high school students will explore how name-calling and bullying have the potential to escalate into more serious incidents of violence when they go unchecked. Many teens (and even adults) often report not knowing how to respond. This workshop will support teens as they practice strategies to address real-life scenarios of name-calling and bullying. Participants will gain confidence as they acknowledge their own power to be an ally for themselves, their families and anyone who has been a target of bullying in their personal life, at school and in their communities.
